Urban Farming: Production for Greenhouse and Hydroponics System

The ICCP recently held an event focused on urban farming. Our participants learned about doable edible gardening and urban farming being promoted and implemented by the Department of Agriculture through the Bureau of Plant Industry with its focal person on Urban Farming, Assistant Director Glenn PanganibanSecretary William Dar shared the DA’s Plant, Plant, Plant advocacy, and nationwide program on food security. Omar Zeidan, former head of the Agricultural Extension Office of Israel’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and now an international consultant on greenhouse farming systems for vegetables shared Israel farming technologies on greenhouse-grown high-value vegetables and other technologies that can be adapted in the Philippines. His Excellency Ambassador Rafael Harpaz of the Embassy of Israel welcomed the participants and extended the services of the Embassy in linking Israeli Agricultural technologies with Filipino companies. Harbest shared its doable technologies in vegetable farming to make idle urban lands productive for food.
